    The University of Mount Union, a private Midwestern institution founded in 1846, offers a rigorous and relevant academic program that is grounded in the liberal arts tradition. Mount Union’s more than 2,100 students can select from 47 broad-based and career-specific undergraduate majors as well as master’s programs in physician assistant studies, education with concentrations in athletic coaching, instructional design and technology, educational leadership, Ohio principal licensure, and business administration with concentrations in business analytics, leadership and innovation, and a doctoral program in physical therapy. Known for its academic excellence and personal approach, the institution boasts a 12:1 student-faculty ratio and a curriculum delivered by dedicated faculty members, 91% of whom hold terminal degrees in their fields. 

    Over the last 15 years, more than $120 million has been invested in the construction and renovation of modern facilities including a recreation center, apartment-style housing options, a health and medical sciences facility, and a performing arts center. Primarily residential in nature, Mount Union’s picturesque 123-acre campus is located in Alliance, OH (population 23,000), within 80 miles of both Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The 162-acre Huston-Brumbaugh Nature Center is located six miles away. The University’s endowment is in excess of $141 million.

  • About the Alliance Area


    Mount Union calls Alliance, Ohio home. With a population of approximately 23,000, the city is desirably located less than an hour from Canton, Akron, and Youngstown and is just an hour and a half from Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

    While Alliance maintains a small-town charm, it is a city that’s on the move. Recent growth and development have vastly expanded the city’s offerings, and today, Alliance offers plenty of things to do and places to go.

    Fringe Benefits
    Additional benefits are available to faculty, administrators, hourly staff, and full time coaches of the University. Benefits include use of campus fitness and library facilities, discounts on campus dining, free entrance to campus events, undergraduate education assistance, and more.
      
    Medical Insurance
    AultCare is the primary medical provider for the University. ​The University offers four plan designs including PPO and HSA plans. Coverage tiers available are employee only, employee + spouse, employee + children, and family. Aultman Now is available 24/7, 365 days a year for urgent health care needs, and offers OptumRx as our pharmacy provider.
      
    Dental and Vision Insurance
    Humana is the primary dental and vision care provider for the University. 
      
    Life Insurance
    The University of Mount Union offers a Life Insurance benefit, voluntary life insurance, and a travel assistance prgram for all full-time employees.
       
    TIAA
    TIAA helps employees prepare for retirement, and the University of Mount Union offers a defined contribution retirement plan. Newly hired full-time employees are eligible to receive a monthly contribution to their retirement plan after one full year of service. All employees are able to contribute their own funds to a retirement account with TIAA at any time. 
      
    Employee Assistance Program
    The University of Mount Union is proud to have the Impact Solution Employee Assistance & Work/Life Program (EAP) available to employees. Impact Solutions offers confidential support for you, your spouse/partner, household members, dependents living in and away from home and parents & parents-in-law around the clock, over the phone, face-to-face, or telehealth counseling. Impact Solutions support is available for all situations including, but not limited to, stress, marital and family issues, parenting challenges, depression, anxiety, substance use, medical issues and other emotional concerns.
